J.K. Simmons Cast As Commissioner Gordon In Justice League

J.K. Simmons joins the short list of actors have played both a Marvel & DC character, as he has been cast as Commissioner James Gordon in the upcoming Justice League: Part One

J.K. Simmons is an incredibly accomplished actor, and one of his most famous roles was the dead on performance of Daily Bugle Editor in Chief J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. There was always hope that he’d reprise the role in future films, but his latest role may dash those hopes (and blow fanboys’ minds).

J.K. Simmons has officially been cast as another legendary character, Commissioner James Gordon. That’s right, J.K. Simmons played one famous Marvel character, and now he will play a DC one. One closely tied to Ben Affleck, who of course has also played both a Marvel character and will be making his debut as a DC character later this month in Batman v Superman. But we won’t be seeing J.K. Simmons in Batman v Superman, that’s already finished. We will first see Simmons as Gordon in the upcoming Justice League: Part One, which starts filming this April and is planned to release November of 2017.

I have absolutely no doubt J.K. Simmons will be fantastic in the role of Gordon. But admittedly, he did such a fantastic job as Jameson, it will be hard not to think of him in that role. It’s weird that they are introducing him in The Justice League movie of all things, it’s definitely a movie he doesn’t have to be present for. It may have just been a timing thing, they probably couldn’t find the right actor in time for Batman v Superman, so they decided to just save the character for another movie. I know it’s really unlikely, but now I’d really like for Simmons to reprise his role as Jameson in the new Spider-Man film, because it would just screw with people’s heads. Justice League: Part One is due out in 2017.
