Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon In Latest Civil War II Teaser
By D. Goodman
Marvel continues to release teasers for the upcoming Civil War II event, asking its heroes to choose a side.
With Civil War II getting ready to overtake your local comic shop this spring, Marvel is trying to drum up interest with the tried and tested teaser method, dropping a new image each day and asking you to “Choose your side.”
Previous teasers have featured Jean Grey seemingly becoming the Phoenix, Medusa of the Inhumans, Thor as well as the Black Panther, each asking if you want to protect or change the future.
The latest teaser has dropped as well as a synopsis and this time the focus appears to be on the Guardians of the Galaxy as Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon square off.
"The Marvel Universe is at a crossroads. A new power has emerged, one that can predict the future—for good or ill— and the heroes of the Marvel Universe are faced with a choice: Wield the power of “predictive justice” to change the future as they see fit, or reject it and allow tomorrow to unfold unaltered.Protect the future. Change the future. Which sides will Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord choose?"
Very ominous indeed.
Civil War II is the kinda-sorta sequel to the classic Civil War event which rocked the Marvel Universe back in 2006. It will pit the members of the Avengers and more against each other after the death of a major hero.
The series, which will be written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by David Marquez will be preceded by a #0 issue which will be written by Bendis and drawn by his House of M cohort Olivier Coipel.

Despite the fact that I can see this “event” for what it actually is, which is a clear cash grab by Marvel trying to tie-in to the Captain America: Civil War movie hitting theaters at the same time it will be on the stands, I am finding myself becoming very interested in reading it.
If Bendis does nothing else, he knows how to write these big Marvel event books and keep them interesting (Secret Invasion notwithstanding.) And getting to see Marquez draw the Avengers will be a real treat.
Civil War II #0 will be on stands this May, followed by #1 in June.
