Dark Horse has announced they plan to publish the prequel manga of the hit cyberpunk anime Psycho-Pass.
It seems like every few years, an anime hits American shores that takes collective fandom by storm. Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, and Naruto are just a few of the anime that have captured American otaku’s attention and become huge hits in the states.
The latest anime to strike a similar chord in Psycho-Pass, the science fiction anime produced by Production I.G and directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani and Katsuyuki Motohiro. The cyberpunk-influenced series has been a huge hit with fans of Ghost in the Shell and movies such as Minority Report and Blade Runner and has found a devoted audience online where it is streamed by Funimation.
Now, to the delight of fans everywhere, Dark Horse has announced they plan to publish the prequel manga this November.
Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami is written by Midori Goto with art from Natsuo Sai and is based in the Psycho-Pass anime written by Gen Urobuchi.
From the Dark Horse press release:
"With Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami, Urobuchi reveals how the legendary enforcer was once an ace detective! Working within the city-regulating Sybil System, inspectors must fight crime in a future where a single number measures your criminal tendencies and determines if you are useful to society!"
For fans of the anime, seeing Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami published in English is a welcome treat in addition to the fact Dark Horse has a great reputation when it comes to releasing faithful, quality manga editions. This looks to be another great addition to any library.
