Chris McKay & Will Arnett drop some new details on the Lego Batman Movie

Who knows when we will get a solo Batman movie in he proper DC movie universe. But in the meantime, we are getting the Lego Batman Movie next February. Though it’s still a ways off, Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay and star Will Arnett dropped some new details along with letting us know to expect the first trailer for the Lego Batman Movie later this week in a feature in USA Today.

McKay described the Lego Batman movie as “About a Boy as directed by (action director) Michael Mann (director of Heat, Ali)”. So expect an action comedy relationship movie I guess?

"We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character. This is the movie we would want to see. Batman is an island onto himself, the only thing he doesn’t have is relationships. We’re nothing but exhaustive about the cameos and other characters that try to enter Batman’s life.At first it doesn’t look like it’s all built in Lego. But as you get closer you realize it is. We’re building an entire city, the Batcave and vehicles, going deep into Batman’s world."

Will Arnett teased the Batcave for the Lego Batman Movie:

"The Batcave is even better than we remembered it, it’s awesome” says Arnett. “But I also love getting into the ho-hum day-to-day of being Batman and what it’s like to fight crime each day. Like the idea of Batman oversleeping his alarm clock makes me laugh. It really does humanize him. We get down to that perfect sweet spot for Batman, but also having moments of hesitation. There’s nothing better than a guy who has this super-authoritative, brooding, voice but also moments where he’s a bit unsure."

It is true that generally speaking, we only see Batman is his biggest moments. If you fight crime every day, it’s just like any other job, and you are going to have boring nights, and  make easy mistakes. The Lego Batman Movie is out February 2017 and expect to see the first trailer drop this Wednesday.
