Gotham: Episode 17 Synopsis Released

A preview of episode 17 of Gotham, “Into The Woods”!

Episode 16 of Gotham airs this Monday, but we’ve got a sneak peek of the following episode, which airs April 11th (meaning Gotham will take a week off after this Monday), titled “Into The Woods”. Unlike many episode synopsis’ this one actually contains a pretty major spoiler or two, so be warned MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 16 & 17 of GOTHAM FOLLOW, DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW.

With that in mind, here is a synopsis of episode 17 of Gotham, “Into The Woods”:

"In an attempt to clear his name, Gordon steals his case file and approaches Nygma for help. Meanwhile, Penguin discovers his step-family’s role in his father’s death, and awakens from his conditioning."

Whelp seems like Paul Reubens had a very short stint on Gotham. But also so much to unpack in just those two sentences. If Gordon is stealing case files and aproaching Nygma for help,he obviously has no clue yet Nygma was behind him going to prison in the first place, and he’s obviously escaped from Blackgate somehow and is now on the run.  It seems like the obvious play for Nygma would be to trash the file or alter it so that Gordon looks more guilty than ever. But there’s a wiser, more Riddler-like move here. He could use it to prove Gordon’s innocence without implicating himself and really throw everyone off his trail.

And then there’s Penguin. Well, we knew the “new” Penguin couldn’t last too long, and it seems he’ll be back to his old murderous self just in time! Because I’m willing to bet he won’t be too happy with his new family killing the man who took him in and showed him kindness after all he’s been through.  We’ll find out on April 11th, when episode 17 of Gotham, “Into The Woods” airs on Fox!
