Arrow Season 4, Episode 18 Synopsis: “Eleven-Fifty-Nine”

“Beacon of Hope” was probably the silliest and most ridiculous Arrow episode to-date. And the sad part about this is that the show probably never intended it to be a humorous episode. “Beacon of Hope” was filled with forced puns and ridiculous clichés. How so? All I need to say is “a Bee-Man.”

More from TV

The only highlights of the episode were the flashbacks to Lian Yu and Damian Darhk’s current situation at Iron Heights. At least these things still kept with the overall tone of Arrow and pushed this season’s story arc forward.

With the end-of-episode reveal being that Andy Diggle was Darhk’s “ace-in-the-hole,” we have to ask ourselves, “Is this a triple-cross?” That is, make Darhk think that you tricked Team Arrow into thinking that you switched sides. Or did Andy purposely get caught by Team Arrow from the start — slowly gaining their trust for the ultimate end-game. I guess more will be revealed in this week’s episode. Here’s the official synopsis for “Eleven-Fifty-Nine”:

"Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) learn that Merlyn (John Barrowman) is going to try to break Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) out of prison. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) gets a surprising offer and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) has a heart-to-heart talk with Curtis (guest star Echo Kellum)."

And, of course, the exciting promo for the episode:

Arrow airs on The CW on Wednesdays at 8:00PM EST.
