Faith To Get Ongoing Series From Valiant In July

Faith, the hero who is changing all the rules for comic books, is set to get her first ongoing series this July.

After multiple sell-outs and reprints, it seemed fairly obvious that Valiant Entertainment had a hit on their hands with Faith. The current four-issue miniseries has been a huge hit not only with fans but with critics as well, with the miniseries getting glowing reviews from outlets as varied as People Magazine all the way up to the Washington Post.

It’s easy to see why. Faith Herbert is easily one of the most likeable characters you will ever come across. You root for her to not only defeat the bad guys but also watch as she discovers what kind of hero she is going to be. Add to that the fact she is single-handedly changing the way readers see their superheroes and you have a character that can and has touched a lot of fans.

So it should came as no surprise that Valiant has announced via the New York Times that this July, Faith will get her very first ongoing series.

Written by Jody Houser with art by Pere Perez and Marguerite Sauvage, Faith #1 will pick up where the miniseries leaves off and will continue to chronicle Faith’s road to becoming the hero she has always dreamed of being.

From the Valiant press release:

"In a city under siege by robots, aliens, monsters and, even worse, celebrities, there is only one woman the people of Los Angeles can count on: the stratospheric superhero called Faith! But, unbeknownst to her, Faith is about to collide with the one force she never saw coming: an up-and-coming super-villain bent on snuffing her out once and for all! In addition to the first issue of the ongoing series, Valiant will also be releasing a trade paperback collection of her sold-out miniseries at the same time. Collecting all four issues by Houser, Francis Portela, and Sauvage, Faith vol. 1: Hollywood and Vine sets the stage for the new series and will retail for just $9.99, a steal any way you look at it.
