Are We Getting A Batman Movie In 2018?
Warner Bros. added two as of yet untitled DC movies to it’s upcoming slate
So here’s what we know. A Batman movie is reportedly at least in the very early stages of development (but movies get cancelled or stuck in development hell). Ben Affleck himself has sad he’s working on something “very cool” with DC head Geoff Johns (which might be a comic book for all we know), and Ben Affleck’s talent agency claims Affleck has finished a Batmna script (but whether that actually gets used in a future film is anyone’s guess). Zack Snyder claims he is desperately trying to get Ben Affleck to direct a solo Batman film. Bottom line, WB seems to be circling around a Batman film, but we don’t know when we are getting one.
But today’s news may have hinted at a possibility or two. Warner Bros. announced that they are moving the Wonder Woman movie up a couple weeks from June 23rd of next year to June 2nd. This would put it up against the long in-development Bad Boys 3 (and also technically have Wonder Woman going against Deadshot at the box office). But more importantly, WB also announced two as of yet untitled movies, one due for October 5th, 2018 and one for November 1st, 2019. Odds are one of these is a Batman film. Even most negative reviews of Batman v Superman were positive about Affleck’s performance as the darkest Dark Knight on film to date, so it makes sense that Warner Bros. would try and spin the most well-received aspect of the film off into its own movies. And they would most likely fast track such a film which makes the October 5th, 2018 date all the more likely for a solo Batman outing.

What would the other film releasing in 2019 be? Well if Warner Bros. is going all-in on Batman, it might even be a planned sequel for the first film, but it’s likely something else. Teen Titans? Booster Gold? Blue Beetle? We’ll hopefully get some idea soon.
