Kevin Smith: Geoff Johns & Ben Affleck Working On Batman Script
On his latest podcast, Kevin Smith says Geoff Johns & Ben Affleck are working on Batman script together
Kevin Smith, Batman devotee, movie director and host of the Fatman on Batman podcast, recently had a live edition of his podcast in Detroit, and among other things, revealed that DC head Geoff Johns is co-writing a script for a Batman movie with Ben Affleck!
"He’s been working on a solo script with Geoff Johns as well. Last conversation I had with Geoff Johns I was like are you working on it? and he said yeah. I said what’s it like man, how do you co-write with someone? and he’s going we just break it up, he takes halves and I take halves and then we write, and then we switch material, and then he goes over mine and I go over his. That sounds so f****** fun man."

This definitely fits with the news that Ben Afflec had previously said he is in fact working on something with Geoff Johns, which most likely was a Batman script but he wouldn’t confirm it. Doe this also mesh with Ben Affleck’s talent agency claiming Affleck had a finished Batman script ready to go? Possibly. Affleck could’ve easily written a first draft of a script that he and Johns are going over and re-writing until they get it just right. You do not want to screw up a solo Batman film, especially since Affleck’s performance as Batman seems to be one of the few things everyone was pretty positive about in Batman v Superman. One thing is for certain, a Batman solo film is definitely in the works. Let’s hope it’s planned for that newly announced untitled 2018 DC film, because I certainly don’t want to wait too long.
