Check out the surprising amount of special effects in Batman v Superman

There’s one thing you can’t deny about Batman v Superman, it is a visual spectacle of a movie. Almost all of the special effects look fantastic and blend in seamlessly with the real footage (except Doomsday, why was he so terrible?). But even for a movie like Batman v Superman it might surprise you to see just how much filming took place on a green screen.

The video below shows still images of Batman v Superman before and after visual effects are added in. It’s really amazing just how much visual trickery went into this movie that you may not have thought about because it seems like nearly every scene that featured the titular heroes had some kind of special effect going on. Like I know that was stuntmen actually doing the action in Batman v Superman, but it didn’t really occur to me that it’s actually a guy in a really silly-looking suit with dots all over it. This probably will greatly demystify the actual visual spectacle of Batman v Superman for you, so it might be something you don’t want to check out but if you are curious just how many special effects go into making a big budget movie look convincing these days, it’s worth checking out:

So yeah, it’s sort of mind-boggling just how much of Batman v Superman is the result of people acting against a green screen and then a team adding in effects. It’s probably par for the course for any big budget movie these days, but it’s more obvious in something like say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Transformers than when I saw this movie. While these were still, I fully expect there will actually be a behind the scenes video of this when Batman v Superman hits home video July 16th
