The MTV Movie awards are going on right now, and they just debuted a new trailer for Suicide Squad!

This new trailer for Suicide Squad is actually more fun and action-packed and filled with humor than the first (seemingly putting rumors that there’s not much humor in the film to rest). It’s a little longer, but also features two songs. The first starting off things slow with “You Don’t Own Me”, then really kicking it into high gear in the second half of the trailer with “Ballroom Blitz”. Well, they mention Superman at the beginning of this trailer, which is interesting as far as the timing of Suicide Squad goes. But seriously, I’m not sure how that leads to the creation of Task Force X, which is the other name for the team and the one they will most likely go by in the movie. But seriously, as vicious as all these villains are, even combined they wouldn’t really stand much of a chance against Superman, so how do we go from being able to counteract Superman to bringing together some of the deadliest enemies in the DC who still have no chance against him? I mean maybe Enchantress since magic is usually a weakness of his, but in the DC movie universe, who knows? Maybe that relates to the dangerous mission they are going on.

Suicide Squad definitely seems like DC’s chance to turn opinion on the future of the direction of DC movies for those who were turned off by the grimdark (and massive plotholes maybe?) of Batman v Superman. We’ll see if it actually accomplishes that when it opens in theaters August 5th.
