WB CEO Confirms Ben Affleck Directing Solo Batman Movie
There is a solo Batman movie coming. But you might have to be patient
We were fairly sure there was a Batman movie coming. Hopefully directed by Batman himself, Ben Affleck. But we never really got confirmation from anybody in authority at DC or Warner Bros. Ben Affleck himself might’ve briefly mentioned a Batman movie was in he early stages of development, but that’s all he could or would say. Ben Affleck’s talent agency claimed he had a completed Batman script and it was awesome, but there was no confirmation of this. Kevin Smith recently said on his podcast, Fatman and Batman, that Affleck and DC head honcho Geoff Johns were co-writing a Batman script, but again, no confirmation. Nobody from Warner Bros. or DC actually came out and said a Batman movie was actually being made, this information was all second or even third hand.
But now we have some real confirmation. Kevin Tsujihara, CEO of Warner Bros., the biggest bigwig at the entire company just confirmed at CinemaCon today that there is indeed a solo Batman film in development, and it will be directed by Ben Affleck. The one potentially annoying catch? Tsujihara said the film is set to be released in the next 5 years. Grated, it will most likely come before that, but there’s still a possibility that while we are getting a solo Batman film directed by Ben Affleck, which is something we should be really excited about, we may not see it in theaters until 2021.

Granted, Warner Bros. is most likely aiming for one of those two spots they just announced for untitled DC movies, so it’s more likely we will get our solo Batman movie in 2018 (hopefully) or 2019. But it still could be bit longer wait than that. But if it gets us the greatest Batman movie to date, it’ll be worth waiting for.
