There’s ‘Just Enough Batman’ In Suicide Squad

Suicide Director David Ayer talks about how much Batman is in the movie

Batman is definitely a part of the Suicide Squad movie, but just how big a part? Well, we know he is involved in a high speed chase with Joker and Harley Quinn (that most likely takes place before the squad is actually put together), and Will Smith has been teasing that he and the Caped Crusader cross paths and it isn’t a friendly chat. So it already seems like we might get a fair amount of Batman in Suicide Squad. But just how much Batman are we getting in Suicide Squad?

Director David Ayer had a somewhat cryptic answer to the question:

"Just the right amount"

Ok, well when does Suicide Squad take place, Mr. Ayer? Is it before Batman v Superman? After? Does it acknowledged what happened in that film?

"The answer to all of the above is yes"

So it is probably true that there is significantly more Batman in the film than the trailers hint at. It also probably has several different periods it covers in both past and present DCEU.

Next: Suicide Squad: Batman vs. Deadshot?

So my wild guess is that Batman’s role in Suicide Squad will be somewhat akin to Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. He’ll pop in here and there for a couple minutes, but probably will also be heavily involved in the finale of the movie, which Will Smith hinted will have everyone colliding in a really awesome way.

As far as when Suicide Squad takes place, Ayer’s answer makes perfect sense. Task Force X may not be able to truly beat Superman, but maybe they can successfully complete a mission that makes him vulnerable. It could also easily open showing each member of the team and how Batman put them in prison as a brief introduction. We’ll just have to see for ourselves how much Batman is in Suicide Squad and over what time periods it takes place when it opens in theaters August 5th.
