Gotham Season 2, Episode 18 Synopsis: “Wrath Of The Villains: Pinewood”
By Steve Lam
“Into the Woods” had Penguin reverting back to his sociopathic … pscyhopathic? (I’m not a psychologist) self after being pushed to the brink via the revelation that his stepmother and step-siblings had a hand in killing his beloved father, Elijah. Cannibalism is the name of the game when Penguin carries out his ultimate revenge against them — by making Grace eat her own children without knowing it. Hmm, it kind of reminds me of that South Park episode “Scott Tenorman Must Die.”

We also saw Jim clear his own name and catch the true killer who’s been framing him — Edward Nygma. The episode ended with Jim being reinstated and Edward being sentenced to Arkham Asylum for his crimes. However, the surprises weren’t really over for Jim because during the final scenes, he was greeted with a just-released Barbara.
This week, we’ll see how Barbara plans to right her past wrongs. It’s still not known if this is a ploy by Barbara to win Jim’s heart. Hey, isn’t she cured already? That’s why she was let out of Arkham, right? Well, if you haven’t been following the show, Doctor Strange has been letting out a lot of “cured” patients to see how they function in the “wild.” His words, not mine. And speaking of Strange, word on the street is that he’ll be an obstacle in Alfred’s and Bruce’s continuing investigation into the murders of Thomas and Martha. I wonder what he has to do with their deaths? Here’s the official synopsis for “Wrath of the Villains: Pinewood”:
"After leaving Arkham Asylum, Barbara attempts to make amends with Gordon. Then, Bruce and Alfred track down one of Thomas Wayne’s former friends from Project Chimera, but Hugo Strange disrupts their plans."
