The Flash Season 2, Episode 18 Synopsis: “Versus Zoom”
By Steve Lam
Okay, The Flash fans, I know it’s been a very difficult three weeks. By now, you’re probably suffering from some major withdrawals. Well, fear not, The Flash returns this Tuesday with an all-new episode. Before its mini-hiatus, “Flash Back” had our Scarlet Speedster traveling back in time, attempting to get help from Harrison Wells / Eobard Thawne of Season 1.

Because a Time Wraith was chasing after Barry, it wasn’t long before Wells/Thawne discovered that he was from the future. Convincing Wells/Thawne that helping him was the only way to preserve his own success in the future, Barry was able to attain the last pieces of a speed formula and travel back to the present.
Oh, this is also where events get sort of rewritten and past villains become allies. Remember Hartley Rathaway … Mr. Pied Piper himself? Due to the events of “Flash Back” Hartley is reformed and becomes a member of Team Flash. At the end of the episode, Hartley’s sonic weapon saves a returning Barry from a Time Wraith. I love time travel, you just never know what’s going to happen.
This week, Barry continues his quest to become faster than ever, which results in what we saw in the Supergirl/Flash crossover in the episode “World’s Finest” on CBS’s Supergirl. So, you can think of “Versus Zoom” as a prequel. Here’s the official synopsis for “Versus Zoom”:
"BARRY IS READY TO FACE ZOOM; HUNTER ZOLOMAN’S STORY IS REVEALED – Equipped with the tachyon device, Barry (Grant Gustin) believes he is fast enough to stop Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) and wants to open the breaches to catch him. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) strongly advises against that plan but after Barry convinces him, Harry reveals that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has the power to re-open the breach. Meanwhile, Hunter Zoloman’s (Teddy Sears) painful story on Earth-2 is revealed."
And, of course, the exciting promo for the episode:
