Batman v Superman: Was Robin A Killer?
Robin was probably a lethal killer in the world of Batman v Superman
One of the biggest controversies of Batman v Superman is that it features a Batman who kills pretty indiscriminately, even using a gun on some occasions. But what about Robin, Batman’s young protege? We don’t know a whole lot about Robin in the world of Batman v Superman. Surely Batman didn’t teach a kid to be a lethal killer, right? I mean some have even defended Batman being a killer in Batman v Superman by him just being so damaged by things like Robin’s death and the destruction in Metropolis that he has become a killer (and is magically fixed by the end of the film because). Robin was killed before the events of the movie (10 years before according to Zack Snyder in recent interviews), most likely by the Joker, and Bruce Wayne/Batman keeps his suit on display as a reminder. In the display is what you might think is Robin’s traditional weapon, a quarterstaff, but of course in Zack Snyder’s universe, it’s something far more lethal.
According to the Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Technical Manual, which among other things, reveals Batman logos that were passed on, and that Batman has brass knuckles hidden in his gloves, it also gives a look at just what exactly Robin’s weapon of choice is:
That’s right, Robin was packing a goddamn halberd. You could argue that maybe he didn’t use it to cleave guys heads in, but that is definitely a weapon designed to just murder the hell out of someone. This certainly won’t make someone who had a problem with Batman killing in Batman v Superman any more satisfied.

If we ever see a flashback to this Robin, will he be using the same weapon, or given the general reaction to Batman v Superman, will they basically pretend this isn’t a thing? Batman v Superman is in theaters now, and the Batman v Superman Technical Manual is available to buy right now.
