Legends Of Tomorrow Season 1, Episode 12 Synopsis: “Last Refuge”
By Steve Lam
“The Magnificent Eight” — the eleventh episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow had the team hiding out in the Old West and living out some childhood dreams of gunfights and catching bandits. However, let’s not forget the most important part of the episode — the meeting of Jonah Hex. As the team joined forces with the antihero, we learned about Rip’s own time-drift and where his son got the name “Jonah.”

Kendra also got clarity for her relationship with Ray after a chance meeting with an older/past self — one who has also lost her Carter. Though the warning was that she could never love anyone besides Carter, Sara told Kendra that she has power over her own destiny and can love who she chooses. Yeah, we’ll see how that turns out … only time will tell on that one.
At the conclusion of their stay, the Legends also faced off with the Hunters — the whole reason they were hiding out in the first place. Disappointingly, for us viewers, the Hunters were defeated way too easily — which made Mick’s original warning sort of overblown and exaggerated. But fear not, right before one of these Hunters dies, he tells Mick that the Time Masters are now sending someone even more dangerous — the Pilgrim.
Back on the Waverider, Mick gives another warning (hopefully, one that won’t be a let down again) — The Pilgrim will be going after their younger selves, so that they’ll be erased from the timeline. Hmm, sounds pretty dastardly. And what better way to illustrate this “warning” than to flash to an actual assassination-in-progress — one where the Pilgrim has already reached a younger Mick. This week, we’ll see how the Legends go about saving themselves and, at the same time, learn some more secrets about Rip’s mysterious past. Here’s the official synopsis for “Last Refuge”:
"RIP’S BACKSTORY IS REVEALED – The team is targeted by The Pilgrim (guest star Faye Kingslee), a deadly assassin who wants to erase the Legends from the timeline by killing their younger, non-superhero selves. As a protective countermeasure, Rip (Arthur Darvill) decides Sara (Caity Lotz), Snart (Wentworth Miller), Rory (Dominic Purcell), Professor Stein (Victor Garber) and Jax (Franz Drameh) need to kidnap their past selves first before The Pilgrim gets to them. Coming face-to-face with the younger versions of themselves proves to be both a physical and emotional challenge for certain members of the team who would rather forget their past. Rip tells them he has a refuge for their precious cargo – an orphanage that raises future Time Masters and where he himself grew up."
