Suicide Squad: Viola Davis Didn’t Receive Any Gifts From Jared Leto
Suicide Squad’s Viola Davis didn’t receive any odd gifts from Jared Leto
So this is a well-known story by now. In order to REALLY get into character for his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad, Jared Leto exhibited lots of odd behavior. He was in character the entire time he was on set, to the extent that most cast members (and possibly even director David Ayer) were a little intimidated by him. But he also sent his castmates gifts. Weird ass gifts that if you think about it, might’ve gotten him arrested for harassment if someone on set took it the wrong way. Live rats, dead pigs, condoms, anal beads, to name a few. So yeah, it may have resulted in a fantastic performance (we’ll obviously have to wait until the movie comes out to be sure), but Jared Leto indulged in some very psychotic behavior.
Except around one Suicide Squad set co-star. Viola Davis, who is playing Amanda Waller in the film, did not get any of Leto’s bizarre gifts. Granted, she may not even have much if any screen time with Leto on the film, but that theoretically shouldn’t have stopped him. Though Davis claims Leto would’ve been in big trouble if she had gotten any such “gifts”:
"I did not receive any personally or else I would have got my husband who was called the headache ball back in the day when he played football. I would have said, ‘Take care of The Joker.”"

While I don’t think Leto was aware he’d be in trouble for something like that, he probably has a good in-character reason for not sending Davis gifts. She’s Amanda goddamn Waller. The Joker would mess with just about anybody, but he’d be scared of Amanda Waller. Suicide Squad opens in theaters August 5th.
