Pinewood” had Bruce finally going after a solid lead related to Thomas’s final activities. Little did Jim know, he himself was also on the same trail. And with help from a supposedly reformed Barbara, Jim was able to navigate the criminal underworld and find clues as to who hired Matches Malone.

Bruce, a little more ahead of the game, sought out the last person Thomas was supposed to have a meeting with — a woman named Karen Jennings. He would later come to find out that Karen was a resident of a research facility known as Pinewood — a Wayne Enterprises-controlled program which performed illegal experiments on people. The only knowledge comforting the future Dark Knight was that his father had no involvement and actually tried to put a stop to it. Thomas’s actions are what eventually led to his and Martha’s deaths.

With Bruce and Jim hot on the trail, Doctor Strange grew concerned and wanted Karen eliminated. At the end, Bruce discovered that Strange had a direct involvement in Pinewood, and was most likely the person who ordered the killing of Thomas. The final scenes of “Pinewood” show Strange resurrecting Theo Galavan, who seems to be even stronger than before.

Monday, May 2, on the penultimate episode of Gotham Season 2, Jim and Bruce will go after Strange. However, we all have a feeling that Arkham’s head honcho won’t be that easy to take down. Here’s the official synopsis for “Wrath of the Villains: Azrael”:

"Gordon and Bruce question Professor Strange about Project Chimera, which leads Strange to send the newly resurrected Galavan to confront Gordon. Meanwhile, Nygma investigates who Professor Strange is in the all-new “Wrath of the Villains: Azrael” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, April 25 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-219) (TV-14; L, V) CC-AD-HDTV 720p-Dolby Digital 5.1"
