“Eleven-Fifty-Nine” saw Malcolm Merlyn steal the magic stone totem to help Damien Darhk escape from prison. When Damien finally received the totem, the source of his dark powers, he discovered that a crucial piece, a stone, was missing. Without the stone, Damien would not be able to regain his abilities.

Soon, Oliver catches Andy rummaging through John’s things. Thinking that Andy was looking for the stone, Oliver tells John his suspicions. John doesn’t believe Oliver. To prove his trust in Andy, John willingly tells him the location of the stone.

As Damien gains a loyal following in jail, Team Arrow goes there to stop him. Little did they know, it was a trap. At the last minute, Oliver’s notions were proven true when Andy was revealed to be working for Damien. Receiving the stone, Damien regained his powers. He soon takes an arrow, shot by Thea, and stabs Laurel.

At the hospital, Laurel is in critical condition. Just as she seemed to be out of the woods, she starts to seize. At 11:59PM, the doctors call it and Laurel is pronounced dead. A crying Oliver walks out to the hall where an arriving Quentin sees him. Knowing that his daughter has died, Quentin collapses to the ground.

This week, Team Arrow finds the strength to move on from this devastating loss. Here’s the official synopsis for “Canary Cry”:

"OLIVER, LANCE AND TEAM DEAL WITH LAUREL’S DEATH – Oliver (Stephen Amell) and the team struggle to come to terms with Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death, especially Diggle (David Ramsey) who is overwhelmed with guilt for choosing to believe Andy (guest star Eugene Byrd) had changed. Meanwhile, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) refuses to believe his daughter is really gone and asks Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) to help bring her back. A recent Black Canary sighting in Star City only seems to prove his theory that Laurel isn’t actually dead. Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Beth Schwartz."
