The first season of Supergirl laid a great foundation for the series, but if we get a second season these are the things we want to see.

With the first season of Supergirl now finished and in the books, we can look back and see that while it was far from perfect, it hit all the right notes and for the most part was a lot of fun to watch.

And fun was one of the key aspects of the success of the first season of Supergirl. While both Arrow and The Flash can tread into some dark territory on occasion, Supergirl stayed upbeat and positive almost to a fault. A big part of the fun of the show was just watching Kara Zor-El flying around, saving the people of National City.

For fans like myself who still consider the original Superman from 1978 one of the greatest superhero films of all time, it was like a breath of fresh air.

No offense meant to the people who enjoyed Man of Steel, but I like my Superman fun and light. You can leave the dark and grim to Batman, thank you very much.

And that is just what we got in Supergirl every week. A fun, light-hearted superhero show with some great special effects and an actress in Melissa Benoist who perfectly captured what the writers were trying to accomplish.

That all being said, the first season had its fair share of issues. The villains Supergirl faced never really seemed fully developed and Kara’s love life was a mess that the writers didn’t seem to know what to do with.

If Supergirl does get a second season, which seems very likely at this point, there is a lot of room for improvement. Things that could be changed and addressed that would make for a better, more cohesive show. Because if nothing else, Supergirl has almost limitless potential to be truly great.

So here in no particular order are five things that we want to see in Supergirl Season 2. Five simple changes that would make Supergirl better, enhance that show greatly and could help the ratings improve so we get to continue watching Kara’s adventures for a long time.
