Netflix and Marvel have officially announced that a solo Punisher series is in the works.

One of the best things coming out of Daredevil Season 2 has been the appearance of the Punisher — a vigilante who acts as judge, jury, and executioner (yeah, heavy emphasis on the “executioner” part). And that’s saying a lot because the sophomore outing for the Man Without Fear wasn’t just better than the first season, it was acclaimed by audiences and critics.

From the first episode of Season 2, the Punisher’s presence exploded onto the scene in Hell’s Kitchen via images of carnage and death. Jon Bernthal soon appeared as the latest incarnation of the uncompromising vigilante. Facing off with Daredevil, the question of “What is justice?” was hammered into a mesmerized audience. As we learned more about what made the Punisher tick, the more we wanted to see him in action.

Recently, there were rumors that Netflix and Marvel were considering giving the Punisher a solo series. But those hopes were quickly scrapped when the higher ups at both companies confirmed that they didn’t have any plans to do so. Well, the Punisher may have actually paid those guys a visit and scared them into putting out a show (true justice). Because today, we have official confirmation that a Punisher solo series is in the works. To really make this news genuine, Netflix released this teaser via their Twitter feed:

Repeating the famous lines of his deceased daughter’s favorite book, the Punisher promises audiences that he’ll be back. Yep, the work of a vigilante is never finished. Make sure to come back to Bam Smack Pow where we’ll have the latest news regarding the development of this amazing series. For people who haven’t seen the Punisher in action yet, Daredevil Season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
