#13 – Cap Takes Command

From: The Avengers (2012)

When the Avengers first met, they didn’t really mesh well. In fact, they were like oil and water. During the apprehension of Loki, Thor arrived and had a short fight with Iron Man. It only ended when Captain America stopped a blow from Mjolnir and a whole forest was leveled. On the Helicarrier, an enraged Hulk and a Loki-influenced Clint Barton almost brought down the giant craft.

It wasn’t until the death of Phil Coulson did the team feel the need to set aside some of their differences and work together. However, the true turning point for the team came when they were almost outnumbered by the Chitauri. As Bruce Banner rode in on a motorcycle, Iron Man led a giant Chitauri Leviathan right towards them. Captain America suggested that Banner “get angry.” And so, the legendary green giant was released onto the enemy.

As the team came together, knowing that each and every one of them had talents to offer, Captain America displayed the reasons for his namesake. He quickly took command and mapped out a strategy plan for fighting Loki and the Chitauri. For the Hulk, Cap kept it to the simple command of “Hulk, … SMASH!”
