#23 – Time Has Kept Them Apart

From: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Steve Rogers’s honor knows no bounds. After meeting Peggy Carter during World War II, he was smitten by the British agent. During his impending sacrificial plunge into the Arctic, Steve promised Peggy a dance.

Who knew that it would be 70 years before the two would ever meet again. It’s not known if Steve and Peggy ever had that dance after he was unfrozen. But what is known is that he kept Peggy in his heart all this time.

In a poignant scene, an elderly Peggy, who’s obviously slipping in and out of dementia, becomes both elated and sad to see her past love at her bed side. Steve comforts her by saying, “Well, I couldn’t leave my best girl … not when she owes me a dance.” Proving once again that Captain America is the most loyal and upstanding guy there is.
