Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Captain America: Civil War Fallout
By D. Goodman
A new promo for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. shows how the events of Captain America: Civil War could have serious ramifications for Coulson and crew.
SPOILERS for Captain America: Civil War follow! If you haven’t seen the movie, READ NO FURTHER!
Any time a new Marvel film hits theaters, the first thing fans of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. think is “How is this going to affect the show?”
With everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe connected in one big universe, it would be kind of dumb if Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. didn’t acknowledge the events of the movies and adjust accordingly.
Sometimes, as in the case of Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron, the movies only have minor to no impact on the continuing story being told on the show. However, as was shown in the wake of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, sometimes it can change the entire dynamic of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and send it in a whole new direction.

It is still too early to tell exactly how much Captain America: Civil War will change Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. or the ultimate fate of the many Inhumans now popping up all over the planet. But starting with this week’s episode, titled “Emancipation” we should start to get some idea.
ABC has released a new clip from the episode, which you can watch below, and it clearly shows us two things.
First, the Inhumans working with S.H.I.E.L.D., including Daisy and her Secret Warriors, fall squarely under the Sokovia Accords and the government wants them to register.
And second, Coulson is 100 percent a member of #TeamCap.
This follows the previous promo that was released that focuses on Hive and his plans to change the world.
The official synopsis for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. – “Emancipation”
"With only two episodes left before S.H.I.E.L.D. looses one of their own, Daisy’s prophecy ticks closer towards a major loss, as the aftermath of the events of “Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War” force S.H.I.E.L.D. to register the Inhumans, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 10 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network."

While I don’t think Civil War will have the lasting kind of effect on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. that The Winter Soldier had, I do think we are going to see at least some changes. With all enhanced people having to register, it should make the lives of the Inhumans all the more interesting.
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesdays on ABC.
