This week on Gotham, Penguin hunts down Theo after discovering that he’s alive and well. Bruce is adamant in bringing Hugo Strange to justice.

Azrael“–the nineteenth episode of Gotham saw the rise of Azrael, the famous assassin for the Sacred Order of St. Dumas. Instead of his traditional comic book origin, Azrael received the Gotham treatment. That is, he was given a strange (pun intended) origin where he wasn’t Jean-Paul Valley, but Theo Galavan resurrected and manipulated into thinking that he was the legendary character.

After Hugo Strange gave him a “story” to cement an identity, Theo was sent to kill Jim. Jim–still not reinstated as a detective and still going after Strange–is admonished by Barnes and told not to continue his investigation. When Azrael makes his move on Jim, Barnes realizes that his former detective had been telling the truth all along.

As Azrael attacked GCPD, the fight ended up on the roof. Fighting Azrael, Barnes is critically injured by the assassin. Jim arrives just in time and saves his captain by shooting Azrael–knocking him off the ledge. Azrael survives the fall, with news reports capturing and broadcasting his image, revealing to the world that Theo is still alive.

This week, we’ll see how far Penguin will go in eliminating the man who murdered his mother. Let’s also not forget about Bruce, who’s hell-bent on bringing Strange to justice. Here’s the official synopsis for “Wrath of the Villains: Unleashed”:

"Azrael is on the loose in Gotham City, which sparks Penguin’s need for revenge. Meanwhile, Bruce enlists the help of Selina Kyle to help track down Professor Strange, as he evades arrest for his experiments."
