Camren Bicondova Meets Julie Newmar!
It’s a meeting of generations as Camren Biconvdova got to meet one of her idols, Julie Newmar!
On Gotham, Camren Bicondova plays a teenage Selina Kyle, destined to grow up to become one of the most iconic characters in comics history, Batman’s sometimes foe and sometimes love interest Catwoman! And Camren Bicondova does a great job, defining Selina Kyle for a whole new generation of fans.
But of course, Camren Bicondova is hardly the first person to play Catwoman. The first TV portrayal was by actress Julie Newmar on the 1960s Batman TV show starring Adam West. To this day, many consider it a standard bearer, comparing anyone else who does the role to this job. Camren Bicondova herself is a big fan, previously claiming Julie Newmar’s Catwoman as one of her favorite portrayals of the character.
So it was pretty cool when Camren Bicondova was just randomly on a talk show called “Home and Family” (yeah, I’ve never heard of it either) and was surprised by Julie Newmar!
And Newmar had very high praise for Bicondova’s performance on Gotham:
"Shall I say it. She is purrrrrrfection. And you know what I like about Camren? The quality I like most about her is she is serene. Have you noticed that? It’s marvelous, she doesn’t overplay it, she’s just there. She’s very present and with you, and you really believe in her. You’ve got no itsy bootsy … you’re wonderful my dear."
And you can see this historic meeting (and Camren Bicondova trying not to freak out) in the video below:

It’s obviously just super cool of Julie Newmar to come out and do this, because she’s certainly in a position where she could have said no (or come on and been really mean and bitter and make the whole segment awkward). Now obviously we need to get Julie Newmar a guest spot on Gotham. Somebody get on that!
