This week, the penultimate episode of Season 2 of Gotham promises the return of Fish Mooney. And another nefarious group—with plans for Gotham City—make their debut.

Last week on Gotham, “Unleashed” saw Jim and Harvey tracking down Azrael—Theo Galavan—after Barnes is critically injured. Reaching a dead-end, the two spoke to Tabitha Galavan, Theo’s sister, for help.

Giving them a story of the real sword of Azrael and where it was stored, the three went to the Galavan crypt. As they retrieved the famed blade, Azrael appeared and took possession of it. Tabitha attempted to jog her brother’s memory, but he ended up wounding her with the sword.

Meanwhile, Selina broke into Doctor Strange’s secret Arkham Asylum lab to help Bruce get evidence against Strange. Crawling through the air vents, she ran into Ed. The two made a deal and exchanged information: Ed gave Selina directions to Strange’s, and Selina instructed Ed how to get to the outside.

Back at Wayne Manor, Azrael found his way in. He goes after Bruce, but Alfred demonstrated his swordfighting skills and temporarily held off the maniac. Throwing Alfred out the window, Azrael chased Bruce into the garage. The resourceful future Dark Knight soon tricked him and was able to escape by running him over with a car.

Outside, Jim and Harvey arrived. Seeing that Bruce was still in trouble, Jim unloaded a full clip into Azrael. However, Azrael quickly came back to life and continued his advance. Penguin and Butch arrived just in time and used a bazooka to blow Azrael into smithereens.

At Arkham Asylum, Selina arrived in Strange’s resurrection chamber and made a disturbing discovery. Her old friend Bridgit Pike had been transformed in one of Strange’s experiments—calling herself Firefly. With no recollection of Selina, Firefly ignited her flamethrower.

This week, in the penultimate episode of Season 2 of Gotham, we’ll see how Selina gets herself out of that situation. This is also the episode that promises the return of a major character from Season 1—Fish Mooney. Here’s the official synopsis for “Wrath of the Villains: A Legion of Horribles”:

"Hugo Strange welcomes a familiar face to GOTHAM after he resurrects Fish Mooney in Indian Hill. Later, Bruce discovers a friend is in danger and teams up with Gordon, Alfred and Lucius, while uncovering more of Strange’s experiments."
