Rebirth Has A Money Back Guarantee
Geoff Johns is very sure you’ll love Rebirth
Rebirth, DC’s new line-wide event that is meant to restore optimism, hope and legacy to the DC comics universe, is available tomorrow. It’s an 80-page one-shot that changes everything you know about the nature of the DC universe, specifically the New 52 continuity that has been taking place since 2011. And all for the price of $2.99. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
But what if you really don’t like Rebirth? Well DC head Geoff Johns is pretty sure you will. To the extent that he will personally refund you out of his own pocket if you don’t:
"It’s $2.99 for 80 pages. It’s not a lot. If anyone wants to check out comics, wants to check out DC Universe Rebirth #1 and doesn’t like it, they can mail [the comicbook] to Warner Bros., to me, and I will send them a check, I literally will, for both postage and for the book. I will buy all these books back because I believe in this issue a lot. I think it’ll do very well. I hope it does well. But I seriously will, I’ll buy back this book."
Next: Rebirth: Conflict Between Optimism & Pessimism
Well that sounds fair, but I’m sure Geoff Johns knows not many people would hate Rebirth so much that they’d feel sorely cheated out of three whole dollars, then bother to actually send it to him in the mail (physical mail, what is that even?) with an angry letter demanding a refund. Also, what about those who buy the book digitally? I buy about 99% of my comics on my tablet. That being said, I fully plan on buying Rebirth tomorrow and expect to enjoy it, because man, some comics with hope and optimism would be nice. Expect a review of Rebirth later in the week.
