Rumor: New Batman & Suicide Squad Games In Development
We may be getting both a new Batman game and a new Suicide Squad game in the near future
While Rocksteady might be done with Batman games for the time being, that doesn’t mean Warner Bros. is, not by a longshot. We already know of the Telltale Batman game due out sometime this year, and the Return to Arkham Remaster coming this Summer, but that’s hardly all Warner Bros. has planned.
According to a French website, not only is a new Batman game in development, but a new Suicide Squad game as well. Reportedly, this new Batman game will have a day and night cycle and feature an even bigger Gotham to explore than previous games (maybe this time it will feature actual citizens and not have some horribly lame excuse as to why only criminals are around?). But here’s the really interesting part-this new Batman game would actually focus on Damian Wayne. Assuming this is true, it would be interesting to see if he actually plays any different from Batman. While previous Batman games from Warner Bros. certainly had opportunities for you to play as different characters, but they all basically felt like Batman.
The other game would be a Suicide Squad-based title, one that’s a third-person shooter, and a sequel to Arkham Origins in some manner. But that is really all that is known at this point.
Obviously this is the rumoriest of rumors, coming from a random foreign website with no real sources, but it also makes a lot of sense in that WB will probably want to milk Batman and DC in general for all they are worth while the iron is still hot and that includes video games. Will we see any of these titles at E3 in just 9 days? Let’s hope.
