Ben Affleck Says Batman Script Isn’t Ready Yet
Ben Affleck is still working on that Batman movie script
Awhile ago, it was confirmed that there will in fact be a solo Batman movie directed, starring and co-written by Ben Affleck (with Geoff Johns). We haven’t had much other news rather than it will be an original story rather than something adapted from the comics. But while reporters were on set for the Justice League movie, Ben Affleck did give an update on the Batman film, one that may not please fans wanting to see a solo Batman film as soon as possible:
"I think they have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my—my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out.I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say. That’s something that would have to pass a very high bar for me. It’s not just like, ‘Yeah, that might be fun, let’s go try this out."

I’m sure if Warner Bros. could have a solo Batman movie out next week, they would do it. Thankfully, Ben Affleck probably has a lot of pull with Warner currently, and can deliver what he thinks is an awesome Batman film when he is damn good and ready and has the best script he can make. If that means we are waiting til 2020 for the best Batman film ever, that’s fine by me (though hopefully it’s at worst not much later than that).
