A preview of Justice League #1 Rebirth!

Superman is dead! But a new Superman has come to fill in. But it’s not really a new Superman. It’s the old Superman. The pre-New 52 Superman, the one that’s been around since the dawn of the superheroes. The one who was killed by Doomsday and then reborn. But this Superman is not the one that Batman and Wonder Woman know. This is some dude who is wearing a Superman outfit who has remained on the sidelines and has not fought alongside them as a member of the Justice League for the last 5 years. They don’t know this Superman. And they don’t necessarily trust him. Add to that two new questionable Justice League members in Green Lanterns Simon Baz & Jessica Cruz, and you’ve got a Justice League that might take some time to gel together as the Earth’s elite force against world-threatening beings and events. It’s a good question to ask inside the actual DC universe, why is Earth so special that it is this center of all these powerful heroes that can repel galactic threats when other planets fall (obviously this is because as Earthlings we tend to be rather Earth-centric in our writing)? But I seriously doubt we’ll actually get some kind of actual answer. Also, I get that this isn’t the Superman the world is used to at this point, but he comes with loads more experience than any DC hero currently alive (because they are all still the New 52 versions of the characters), they should at least trust that he’s trying to do the right thing and yes, the Justice League needs Superman. Justice League Rebirth #1 will be available this Wednesday, July 6th.
