Batman Beyond is one of the few titles not yet affected by the whole “Rebirth” event, that doesn’t actually come into effect until September, when the Batman Beyond Rebirth one shot comes out. In the meantime, the series is going through a little trip down memory lane, but not through Terry McGinnis. Time traveler Tim Drake has been the Batman of Neo Gotham for a minute now (Terry was killed by a time-traveling Joker/Batman cyborg robot monster trying to save the past from Brother Eye because of course he was), and Mat McGinnis, Terry’s younger brother, is telling Tim about a past event where McGinnis was fighting one of his regular foes, Shriek. This is actually all leading to Terry McGinnis actually coming back to be the Batman of Neo Gotham, which will culminate in Batman Beyond Rebirth #1 in September. I haven’t really kept up with the actual Batman Beyond comic, but I loved the animated series when it aired and Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker is easily one my favorite DC animated movies. It’s very odd seeing Terry’s brother all grown up in this comic. So I think when it gets to Rebirth, I’ll at least start collecting the trades and get caught up (I’m still actually catching up on Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo’s New 52 Batman run at the moment). Batman Beyond #14 will be availble this Wednesday.
