Arrow: 6 Ways To Fix Season 5
By Andrew Zwaan
3. Do Something about Olicity/Felicity/Felicity’s Annoying Family
I guess Marc Guggenheim forgot to let everyone know when he was at Comic-Con that starting at Season 4, Arrow would now be called Felicity and Friends.
Oliver and Felicity’s relationship has always felt forced, and it basically came out of nowhere. In all honesty, the writing for Felicity is downright awful.
The best example of this is in the conversation from the episode where Felicity finds out that Oliver kept his son as a secret from her. Felicity gets mad at Oliver for this, when Oliver wasn’t really even given a choice. It was either tell Felicity and never see your child again, or keep him a secret, and see him whenever you want.
Seriously, how self-centered could she possibly be to do that? At a time when Oliver’s sister, was just, oh, I don’t know, busy dying a very slow death, she decides to make everything about herself.
And don’t even get me started on her mom.
What is the point of her again? That’s right, there is none. Felicity’s mom doesn’t contribute to the show at all. Literally the only reason she’s there is to give out dialogue. What else has she done? The answer is nothing. Get her off the show. The only thing she does is talk. Felicity’s entire family, including her, is just annoying and unnecessary.
Either make Felicity take a backseat role, or don’t have her on the show anymore at all. Same goes for the rest of her family.
