5. Show That the Characters Are Human

One of the reasons why The Flash is so well received is because Barry, Cisco, Kaitlin, and all the other characters, actually act human. The group has great chemistry together, and you can see it during the episodes. They go out and eat, they go bowling, they like to hang out and just have fun.

In Arrow, the only time they aren’t “superheroing” it is when there’s a one minute clip of Diggle holding his baby—just to remind us that he has a child. Oh, and one other time—when Malcolm constantly berates Thea in her apartment about why he loves her, which doesn’t even really count.

Team Arrow is rarely shown ever having any fun. The whole group has to always be stressed out or arguing about something. Do they exist solely for the purposes of fighting crime and getting mad at each other? Because that’s certainly what it seems like.

I’d argue that the same case could even be applied to Oliver and Diggle. What other times are they together, besides when the two of them are debating how to take down a villain, and when Diggle is giving him some sort of pep talk—just he like does every other episode.

The characters act like robots, instead of actual human beings. They’re supposed to have feelings and emotions (this does not include Felicity’s constant crying). Since they don’t, that is the entire reason as to why Laurel’s death didn’t feel like anything. There was no shock factor, and I didn’t feel sad when she died. No, there’s none of that. If anything, all I felt was anger towards the show’s writers for killing off the one person that had an interesting arc besides Oliver.

Almost everyone in this show is entirely lifeless, which brings me to my next point.
