New Suicide Squad Plot Details!
We finally have some details on Suicide Squad’s plot and Joker’s role in the film
So by now we know the basic setup of Suicide Squad-prisoners get forced to team together by Amander Waller on a mission likely to get all of them killed. But we didn’t really know what this mission was, or if it took place before or after Batman v Superman, or why The Joker is in Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad is featured in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, and now we do have some of those answers. There is a powerful mystical enemy about, which has some ties to Enchantress. Suicide Squad takes place post Batman v Superman, so Superman is currently in the ground and unable to combat such a threat (though historically he is weak against magic so who knows if he’d do any good anyways). Amanda Waller decides a solid plan B is to recruit these criminals like Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, etc. to tackle the problem, with Colonel Rick Flagg and Katana being the ones that keep the criminal scum in line while they complete their mission.
As for the Joker, while he is obviously present in some flashback scenes as you’ve seen in the trailers for Suicide Squad, he’s also in the present day film as well, with the goal of re-uniting with his true love, Harley Quinn.

I don’t know how I feel about Joker’s “role” if this is the case. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Joker & Harley Quinn have a horribly abusive relationship, but that’s what it is. Joker doesn’t care about Harley and is often sadistic and abusive to her. He basically would only bother to “reunite” with her if she was of some use to him, nit because he loves her. Because he doesn’t. That should be reflected in the film, especially if we are going to be getting a solo Harley Quinn movie down the line. Because if they are just two crazy psychos in love, why does she need or get her independence? I guess we’ll see how it all plays out when Suicide Squad opens in just under a month on August 5th.
