3 Storylines That Would Be Perfect For The Batman Solo Film

With the recent praise of the director’s cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, many are heavily anticipating the next Batman movie. Not that they weren’t before, of course.

Ben Affleck is directing and starring in the film, which will be coming out sometime in 2018. He previously directed Argo back in 2013.

There are so many Batman stories to choose from for the plot, both iconic and unknown. With that in mind, it’s anyone’s guess as to which storyline Affleck will use.  So, me being the nice person that I am, I did the work for him.

1. Court of Owls

The Plot: Bruce Wayne investigates who was behind the several recent murders in Gotham. Supposedly just an urban legend, a secret society, known as the Court of Owls, has been in existence since the 16th century. They hide out in abandoned buildings, sending their assassin, Talon, to do their dirty work. If anyone tries to expose the Court, they end up dead.

Why It’d Work: The Court of Owls story arc would be something that we’ve never seen before on the big screen. Not just in terms of characters, but also in terms of Gotham City itself. There’s never been a movie that has really given Gotham the praise it deserves. Additionally, a fresh, new villain would be good for the audience, considering how many people know the Joker and the rest of Batman’s rogues gallery. Not to mention, Talon could very well end up being a fan-favorite.

2. Death of the Family

The Plot: The Joker has been gone for a year. When he returns, he doesn’t go try to hurt Batman physically, but psychologically. The Clown Prince of Crime has kidnapped all the members of the Bat Family, in an attempt to break The Dark Knight.

Why It’d Work: This version of the Joker would without a doubt, be the most terrifying one on screen yet. Considering the fact that he actually cuts off his own face, then wears it as a mask, is downright horrifying.

Having this as a movie would also give us our first look at the rest of the Bat Family (not counting the terrible 1997 debacle Batman and Robin). And having that could possibly lead to an “Under the Hood” movie, which would be awesome.

3. Under the Hood

The Plot: A masked vigilante known as Red Hood decides to take the law into his own hands, and mercilessly kills all the people he considers to be “scum.” The Dark Knight obviously doesn’t approve of these methods, and the only thing he wants to do is figure out who’s under the mask.

Why It’d Work: First of all, it would give the audience a really good look into the Batman lore and history, while also adding a few iconic scenes from the comics here and there. In addition, we’d also get to see the best detective work from Batman yet in a film.

My pick for Red Hood would be Jensen Ackles. He already did the voice for the character in the animated film anyway. Plus, he’s got the looks for the role as well. And since he looks to be at least in his late 20’s, this could easily be explainable, due to the fact that Bruce Wayne is much older in the movie universe.
