Gotham Gets 3 Emmy Nominations
Gotham is nominated in several Emmy categories
The Emmy awards were announced earlier today, and while genre shows are getting more recognition than ever thanks to things like Game Of Thrones, most of these shows are still getting nominated in the categories you expect to them to be, and that includes Gotham. But hey, anytime you can slap “Emmy Nominated” or even better “Emmy Winning” on your show that’s a good thing!
So Gotham is nominated in 3 categories for the 2016 Primetime Emmys. Outstanding Cinematography for A Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series, & Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Miniseries or Movie.
I don’t know about stunt coordination or sound editing (who really does?) but the cinematography of Gotham is one of the strongest aspects of the show and should definitely be recognized so it would be great if it won.

But in every category Gotham is nominated, it is facing one Dragon-sized juggernaut in HBO’s massively successful Game Of Thrones. Granted, Game Of Thrones is nominated in just about every category possible, but with the stellar year it’s had, it’s also likely to win every category possible. Now there is a chance, that somehow, some way, Gotham could possibly eek out a win in one of these categories simply because none of them are considered a top tier category like Best Drama or Best Lead Actor, etc. and the Academy decides that Game of Thrones can’t win every goddamn category but I’d say the odds of that are low.
I think the only one of these that might even be shown on the actual Emmy broadcast is for Cinematography, so that may be the only one we actually see handed out on the night of the actual awards. You can see all the nominees and past winners at the official website. The Primetime Emmy Awards air live Sunday, September 18th which is one day before Gotham returns on Fox, Monday September 19th.
