Mark Hamill clarifies that he is in fact not done playing The Joker

Mark Hamill might be known as Luke Skywalker to many, but for over twenty years in he’s been known as the definitive version of someone even more iconic, The Joker. Being the voice of the Clown Prince of Crime in Batman: The Animated series and delivering a wonderfully unhinged performance pretty much every time he appeared, for many, Mark Hamill’s Joker is the best Joker of all time, and he’s played the role in various TV shows, movies and video games.

But recently, Mark Hamill had been at least talking about retiring from the role, he claimed to be pretty much done with even before secretly recording for the video game Arkham Knight that came out last year. And that in fact seemed to be the case, as he’s rarely done the role in the last several years.

But of course now Mark Hamill is returning to the role of The Joker in the upcoming animated adaptation of The Killing Joke graphic novel. But he also had been on record saying doing this particular movie with Kevin Conroy specifically would be the one thing he’d reprise the role for. So is The Killing Joke Mark Hamil’s final performance as the Joker? He recently answered this to a fan on Twitter:

So there you have it. Of course, a little research could’ve also provided the answer, as the upcoming Justice League Action animated series will be featuring Mark Hamill as the voice of The Joker once again.

So it seem like Mark Hamill is ready to regularly be the Joker again for at least a little while longer if he’s appearing on an upcoming show (though that may be only a couple times a year). When he actually does retire, hey he’s got a legacy of decades of awesome performances you can see and will be remembered for a long, long time.
