Mark Hamill Will Sing “I Go Looney” In The Killing Joke Movie

So The Killing Joke movie will not just feature an expanded story (Mark Hamill recently described it as something packaged into a larger story focused on Batgirl & Batman) but it will have a creepy musical number as well! If you’ve actually read The Killing Joke, you know he Joker has a monologue that reads very much like it could be a musical number. Here’s Troy Baker, who played The Joker in Arkham Origins (doing a fairly decent impression of Mark Hamill’s Joker), reading the monologue from The Killing Joke to give you some idea:

Now that has been turned into a musical number by many aspiring Youtube artists, but we have never seen it officially turned into a song. But we will in the soon to be released Killing Joke movie. In an article talking about the release of the Killing Joke soundtrack, out July 22nd (which is a few days before the digital release of the movie), The Hollywood Reporter notes that Mark Hamill, who is playing The Joker in The Killing Joke movie will be performing the monologue as a song titled “I Go Looney”. And if you have never heard Mark Hamill sing as the Joker, well firstly you obviously haven’t played either Arkham City or Arkham Knight (get on that) and you are in for a creepy treat. Check out some examples from those games below:

So The Killing Joke will actually have it’s world premiere at next week’s San Diego Comic Con, followed by a one night showing in theaters across the country through Fathom Events on July 25th. The soundtrack will actually release a few days before that on July 22nd. Then the movie will release digitally on June 26th with a physical release on Blu-Ray and DVD August 2nd. We should have a review not long after the physical release at latest, but this is easily one of the biggest home video releases of the year, animated or otherwise, so if you’re a Batman fan you should probably check it out.
