Amanda Waller Focus Of New Suicide Squad Trailer

Amanda Waller has an even more shady side in this Suicide Squad trailer

Granted, Amanda Waller was always presented as super shady character in Suicide Squad right off the bat. How else would you describe someone who enlists prisoners against their will on a mission likely to get them killed and will literally blow off their heads if they refuse to follow orders?

But now a new (and likely final) trailer has been released, focusing very much on Amanda Waller, played by the amazing Viola Davis, showing a bunch of new footage and it paints her in an even shadier light. Like Colonel Rick Flagg in the comics and other appearances is generally portrayed as extremely loyal to Waller, so he usually knows what is going on even if the other members of the Squad don’t. In this trailer it makes it very clear that Waller is keeping things from Flagg, such as the true nature of this mission they are undertaking, and Flagg makes it very clear that he is not surprisingly, not on board with commanding a bunch of unreliable super villains. After all this time, we still really don’t know what the plot of Suicide Squad is, or who the real villain is, aside from being called “The Adversary”. And that’s a very, very good thing. I don’t think many will argue that whether the movie was good or bad, we saw far too much of Batman v Superman in the various trailers released. We know the basic premise but not the story in Suicide Squad and that’s a very good thing. We’ll find out what it is when Suicide Squad opens in theaters in just over two weeks on August 5th.
