Rumor: Batman Solo Film In Arkham Asylum?

The inmates may be running Arkham Asylum in the upcoming solo Batman movie

Ok so this is the most rumoriest of rumors but here goes. It was already heavily rumored that the upcoming Batman solo movie, directed by and starring Ben Affleck and co-written by Ben Affleck and head of DC Films Geoff Johns would include a ton of villains. Well what would be the reason for that? Would they be some sort of informal Injustice League? What if Batman was fighting them on what is technically their own turf?

That’s the word from Batman On Film, which is quoting some anonymous but supposedly reliable sources. In the Batman movie, Batman would be locked up in Arkham Asylum for reasons currently unknown, and of course all of his worst enemies would be there waiting for him. This would fit with the rumors of the film having many villains and give a plausible scenario for them all to be involved.

The story sounds reminiscent of stories like Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth or even the video game, Batman: Arkham Asylum. Ben Affleck has said that the solo Batman film wouldn’t be a adaptation of any existing stories, but would draw for them, so it could be similar to stories like the ones I already mentioned while still being it’s own thing. But of course this is a rumor so it’s possible this isn’t the case at all. Ben Affleck & Geoff Johns are still working on the script, so this could be true now and change later. All we really know is that a Batman solo film is coming sometime in the next couple years. There’s a chance we’ll get an update on how the film is progressing at this week’s San Diego Comic Con, but I don’t think we’ll get any major details or reveals until next year at the earliest.
