Will Suicide Squad Decide the Fate of DC Films?

We are less than a month away from DC’s next release Suicide Squad. The film has received a lot of buzz both in negative and positive ways leaving fans wondering if it will be worth the price of admission or if it will disappoint in the ways that Dawn of Justice did.

What many people are forgetting is that while this movie will connect in the DC film-verse it will not be the make or break movie as to whether we continue to see our favorite comic book characters on the big screen.

The DC movie-verse is undergoing a change, one that will not likely take effect until Justice League. Such a change would be given a chance to take effect in future films regardless of the box office success or failure that Suicide Squad experiences.

Suicide Squad is as well much akin to Marvel’s Ant Man or Guardians of the Galaxy more of an independent film and less a part of the ongoing series that has been much talked about and maligned. Not to say that it does not connect but rather that its effect on the rest of the series itself will be little if any.

Wonder Woman will be DC’s next big push for its franchise and one that should not make or break Justice Leagues reception.  Gal Gadot in an independent Wonder Woman film is a great idea.  Taking one of the few positively reviewed characters out of Dawn of Justice for your next movie should add to its success.

While both of these movies will be ones that DC fans will pay attention to in the box office. The deciding factor in this movie-verses success will not be Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman.
