Batman might be given a little extra motivation to go after Joker in The Killing Joke movie

Batman and Batgirl usually have much more of mentor/mentee relationship, but has there ever been something more? I mean sure, Bruce is older, but they are still two young attractive people often put in extremely tense situations together. It was all but spelled out in the animated series Batman Beyond that Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon had a relationship for at least a little while.

And in Killing Joke, they are going way past hinting. Though not explicit, as part of the expanded backstory of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, at some point in the film before she’s shot and abused by Joker, Batgirl & Batman have sex.

And then after, in a leaked scene posted on Youtube, you can see Barbara trying to at least talk about it with Batman and Bruce unsurprisingly not wanting to talk about what happened or even work with her really:

There’s a lot of feelings for comic book fans to go through here. Aside from it possibly being Batman taking big advantage of the influence he has over someone he’s mentoring (you know, like in Kill Bill), one of the big relationships in DC comics in Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson. Even if they aren’t currently a couple in the comics, there’s definitely the idea that they are eventually destined to get back together and will always love each other, and let’s face it, this would basically be like your father having sex with the love of your life. At the very least, this would be a major Bro Code violation, right?

This already seems to have some people freaking out, but then they should probably remember that The Killing Joke isn’t canon to begin with, and also this is a movie adaptation that will never be addressed in any other part of DC continuity ever, so relax. The Killing Joke is in theaters for two nights this coming Monday and Tuesday through Fathom Events, then comes out digitally June 26th before releasing on Blu-Ray & DVD August 2nd.
