Batman & Harley Quinn Animated Movie Coming
Batman & Harley Quinn animated movie coming next year
The latest animated DC movie, the Killing Joke was screened for the San Diego Comic Con audience last night, and during a panel before the film was actually shown, the next three films in the DC animated line-up were announced.
Justice League Dark, which was already known, is a Justice League generally comprised of the more mystical and supernatural heroes of the DC Universe. The only confirmed members of this animated adaptation are Constantine & Swamp Thing, but Zatanna & Deadman are also very likely in it.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract was also announced. I’m hoping this is really a stand-alone Teen Titans film, as Teen Titans vs. Justice League wasn’t very good and a big part of that was the Justice League was just awkwardly shoved in there and didn’t do much of anything. Judas Contract is a story from the comics (and was more or less adapted in the Teen Titans animated series).
The most interesting and mysterious film was the final one announced, due out next Summer. It’s simply titled Batman & Harley Quinn. Batman & Harley Quinn is an original story, and it’s coming next Summer, but that’s literally all we know about it. We can assume from the title that Batman & Harley Quinn is a movie where Batman and Harley Quinn team up, most likely to stop the Joker from doing something. No word on whether or not this movie will fall in the current DC animated movie continuity, or be some random offshoot like Killing Joke or Gods and Monsters.
Next: Batman/TMNT Adventures Announced
No real announced dates on any of these titles, but given typical DC animated movie procedure, we’ll get a look at Justice League Dark on the physical release of The Killing Joke, and it will be out this year, then followed by Teen Titans: Judas Contract and then Batman & Harley Quinn. Honestly DC’s animated output hasn’t been great lately, so hopefully these movies will be the start of a turnaround.
