Hey guess what, a Suicide Squad movie is coming out this Friday! Seems like a perfect time to get into the Suicide Squad comic book, right? Well what a coincidence! Just so happens that a brand new one-shot re-introducing the team of vilains doing heroic things also known as Task Force X is coming out this Wednesday right before the movie!
Actually, Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 is just the start of a deluge of Suicide Squad-focused comics we are getting in the month of August, so if you are fan of the comics, you’ll have more titles than you’ll know what to do with (and we’ll do similar preview articles for those when they come out).
The not surprising focus of Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 is getting the old gang back together. It seems the president (who bears a remarkable resemblance to our current Commander in Chief) thinks the Suicide Squad is understandably a bunch of dangerous unreliable criminals and the whole procject needs to be scrapped. Amanda Waller is able to convince him otherwise by claiming she knows one man who can not only lead the squad, but keep them under control, Rick Flagg. As I said, Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 is just the start as in August, not counting books starring Harley Quinn there are several other comics focused on the Suicide Squad and various members of it. Let’s hope the movie does well enough to justify all these! Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 is out Wednesday, August 3rd, and followed by the Suicide Squad movie this Friday, August 5th.
