Telltale’s Batman Broken On PC

An all too-familiar tale of a Batman game being broken on PC….

The first episode of Batman’s Telltale game launched today on Xbox One, PS4 & PC. Games having issues on launch day is nothing new, but it seems like you are being especially punished for being a Batman fan who games on your PC. Much like Arkham Knight last year, Telltale’s Batman is apparently a broken mess of a game on PC.

Reviews on Telltale’s Batman Steam page point out a wide array of issues including game crashes, huge amounts of lag, massive frame rate issues, sound issues and more.

The sad thing is, Telltale is kind of notorious for this, not just on PC, but that’s usually more of an issue than most other platforms. I experienced some slight issues with stuttering and sound on my PS4 version, but certainly nothing game-breaking. But Telltale products do have a long history of major issues. Everything from crashes to deleting saved games and losing all your progress have been common issues basically since at least The Walking Dead games if not earlier.

I mean, games being a disaster on launch day are nothing new. And the odds of a game being a mess right when it comes out just seem to get exponentially higher if it’s a PC version of a Batman game made by Telltale whom already has a pretty shaky history launching games period. But in no way does that make it excusable on any level. Telltale should’ve delayed the PC version if it was experiencing so many issues, and there is no way they weren’t aware of it. This just loses them fans permanently. There have been no major reported issues on the Xbox One or PS4 version (which I played and worked fine with only a few hiccups), so if you must get Telltale’s Batman today, go for the console version. But honestly I’d wait until all episodes are out and even then possibly until there’s a sale on the season pass…
