Patty Jenkins Reviews Suicide Squad

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins gives her thoughts on the poorly-reviewed Suicide Squad

Critics hate Suicide Squad. Well, not all critics, but a damn good majority of them. A lot of people all already looking ahead to Wonder Woman, the next DC film, as the one where DC finally delivers a film that both critics and audiences like. That puts a lot of burden on the director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins. So maybe she should check out Suicide Squad and see where they went wrong (note that Wonder Woman has already wrapped filming, but hey there’s plenty of time still for expensive reshoots!). Turns out that Patty Jenkins has seen Suicide Squad, and she’s kinda stumped by the overwhelmingly negative reviews:

"Uh… You guys. Super confused. Just went to the premiere of #SuicideSquad. Hadn’t seen it. It’s great. Not sort of great. GREAT! I mean… I loved it. So surprised by some reviews. I don’t get it. I thought it was awesome. And NOT just because I’m in the DC world. Truly."

Honestly, this kind of points to a disturbing trend here. David Ayer really liked Batman v Superman. I understand him not wanting to stomp all over it, but he was super enthusiastic about it. Now, Suicide Squad comes out to pretty awful reviews, and the director of DC’s next big movie doesn’t see any issues with it and thinks it’s legitimately amazing. That actually really does not bode well for Wonder Woman, Justice League is another Zack Snyder joint, albeit it one aiming for a happier tone so who knows how that will turn out. Well, at least Ben Affleck is handling the upcoming Batman solo film. Oh wait, he really liked Batman v Superman too. WE’RE DOOMED.
