Alfred & Lucius Fox will help guide Bruce Wayne to his destiny in Gotham season 3

Season two of Gotham had a lot of training of Bruce Wayne by Alfred, but also a lot of Alfred getting his ass kicked and ending up in the hospital. It also featured Lucius Fox befriending Bruce Wayne and helping him uncover the mystery of his parents’ death. What will be the situation with these two key members of Team Wayne going into season 3 of Gotham?

Well for Alfred, there will be more training of Bruce Wayne, but also Alfred being more of an ass-kicker, as actor Sean Pertwee, who plays Alfred Pennyworth on the show, assured that the writers are pretty keen on that, and talked about how his relationship with Bruce Wayne is evolving:

With any teenager – I have a teenage son called Alfred, weirdly enough – like any teenage son you need to find a way of communicating, you need to find a hook. Last season, [Bruce] is becoming a man. He’s hormonally challenged, and Alfred has done reverse psychology this season saying ‘do what you do, just tell me what you’re doing.’ So there’s a definite sort of more unification between Alfred and Bruce, and you’ll see their relationship sort of flourish this season. We have a couple more sets, the manor is expanding.

Chris Chalk talked about how his character will help in Bruce’s fight, but not in a physical manner, because Fox isn’t much of a fighter. Which pretty much implies he’ll use his technical knowledge, maybe even make some early versions of the many gadgets we’ve seen Batman use over the years. You can see both Sean Pertwee & Chris Chalk talk about these things and more in the video below:

While I doubt we will see any Batarangs, a grappling hook might not be a bad idea for our burgeoning young crime fighter. Gotham season 3 starts on Fox Monday, September 19th.
