The times Batman’s arch nemesis, The Joker has tussled with Superman are far and few between. But that’s not because Superman is so powerful. Someone as brilliantly insane as the Joker is a unique challenge for the Man of Steel. And it’s something Jared Leto, who currently inhabits the role of the Joker for the DC Extended Universe would like to see happen on the big screen.

"Ah, ‘Who?’ That would probably be his answer. ‘Super-who? Superboy? He sounds cute. Tights? A cape?’Superman seems like a lot of fun though for the Joker. The Joker and Superman would be interesting to see onscreen because Superman’s so stoic and morally centered. I think that the Joker would really enjoy that. Superman is just the classic hero and the Joker opposite any hero would be really interesting."

Again, the Joker going up against Superman is super rare, but it has happened, and Superman usually vastly underestimates just how crazy Joker is and forgets that with Joker there are no rules and no limits.

Would Joker work as a primary villain in a Superman movie? Maybe even in the reportedly now-in development Man of Steel 2? Quite possibly. But there’s certainly an easier answer here. Just make Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Batman and Superman team up to take on Joker and Lex Luthor like they did in Batman: The Animated Series. You’d have to have it a little different from the show because that’s where they first meet on the series, but it wouldn’t be that hard to change a couple little things and it would totally work on the big screen. Will we ever see Joker take on Superman? Maybe a small part of a future Justice League movie, but I doubt it’ll be the focus of a solo Superman film is my guess.
